I've had a time for reflection today on Jonathan's running career which is coming to an end rather quickly..... only 1 more week until states and high school graduation.

This is my coveted yellow rose bush that the kids gave me one year for Mother's day. I am grateful that they listened to what was my favorite and surprised me with it. I dislike that it was killed by some bug.

I am not ready for my youngest, Jonathan, to be graduating high school. I'm grateful for the lessons he has learned and the young man he has become.  This is how I still see him.

I am grateful to spend time with family and to relax on the shore with my darling. We were at the Clift Family Reunion at my Uncle Donald's place on Mathias Point.

I am grateful to have the day to spend with Scott through the Northern Neck, with a picnic on the Stratford Hall river front. We enjoyed being surrounded by God's creations.

I see..... Colleagues from across the state at the GCC OER Academy. I'm grateful for the love of learning and desire to improve instruction.

I'm grateful for being near the Potomac river my whole life, where it is shallow enough to walk with my toes in the sand and salt (brackish) water splashing on my ankles.

Someone was quite bold when they built a fire pit in the middle of the XC trail. Sad. I'm grateful for those that are willing to spend the time to clean up after other people's messes.

I am very grateful to have my mother to share things with, like the piano that we are no longer using, she is now going to learn to play.  These lines are in the trailer Scott, Jonathan and Jacob used to move the piano to Mom's house.

Day 137 - 5/17/14

Willie and his fuzzy sheep. He loves this sheep, and in fact has 2 blue ones and 1 green one. He lays on the floor with them and sucks on them or just lays with them or when someone will play he likes to play catch and fetch with one of them. I'm grateful he finds such joy in something so cute and washable.

A new girl gnome has arrived in my garden. She is shyly flirting with her Gnomeo in the distance. I'm grateful for innocent love and my affinity for cuteness.

I'm grateful for the simple pleasures, such as this look of pure happiness on Willie's face when we go for long walks through the trails in the woods.

The students taking physics this semester were up high on the roof of the Science & Engineering building gliding their planes to the ground below as part of their class projects.  I am grateful to work with teachers that provide the opportunity for creativity in student work.

These yellow irises grow down low in my flower bed.  I am grateful for having such a wide variety of irises that I brought from my childhood home to grow at my home. Last week the white ones bloomed, this week the yellow ones, purple should be next.

This tree is on a civil war battlefield. I'm grateful to have so much history in my backyard.

I'm grateful for a bouquet of roses in all different  colors from Scott for Mother's Day.  He makes me smile.

Tonight, Jonathan and his friends are going to their Senior Prom. They had dinner at Noelle's after taking pictures, then headed to the prom, arriving just about 9:30, so were dancing by 10 o'clock. 
I'm grateful for the memories they are making.

Today I.... am proud of my nieces who both are graduating from college with their Bachelor's degrees.  Jamie from Longwood University, Magna Cum Laude and Christian from University of Mary Washington.

I am grateful for time to have lunch today with a great group of girls from work to celebrate Juanita's birthday. This is my ice cold glass of water, so refreshing.

When I found these metallic pom-pons at the craft store I just knew I had to make something out of them. They became part of the wreath that I made for Jonathan's graduation celebration. I'm grateful for creative people that make such things so I can be creative, too.

Day 121 - 5/1/14

I enjoy the irises from my garden that originated (as far as I know) in my great-grandmother's flower beds. I'm grateful for the forethought of my mother to have taken some of them and planting in the beds of our home growing up and then saving some for me.
