Day 243 - 8/31/14 - comfort

I am grateful today to have my Mom's help with the packing. It is a comfort to me that she is so willing to come help anytime that I ask. I am going to miss having her so close to me after we have moved.

Day 242 - 8/30/14 - animal

Today's word is animal - I am so happy to have my dog in my lap. He's 75 pounds of cuddle.  I have been gone this week, staying at Charlie's since she lives closer to my new job and he has missed me.  I'm grateful to have the time to cuddle with him.

Day 241 - 8/29/14 - sunny

 I am grateful to have met a new, canine friend in sweet, old Sunny.  She lives in the house we are working hard to purchase and hopefully move into at the end of September.  We got to spend a little time with her this morning while we were having the house inspected.

Day 238 - 8/26/14 - tiny

Today I went to my actual new job, at the Greensville County Southside Education Center, in Emporia, VA, about 2 hours south on I95 from my current home in a tiny community. The program is designed so students can come straight to us after completing their associate's degree at Southside Community College. They will transfer in to Longwood and begin their junior year without ever leaving the comforts of their home town. The courses are a mixture of online, hybrid and face-to-face courses.
I'll be directing all that goes on in the Longwood Elementary Education program here. We are hoping to build a cadre of teachers for this area.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to help this community.

Day 237 - 8/25/14 - fresh

Today I started the next chapter in my career. I'm taking on a fresh new start as the off-site director of the Longwood at Emporia Elementary Education program.
Today I spent most of the day in an orientation with the HR department. This is a picture of "the Rotunda" also known as Ruffner Hall, where my boss's office is located.

I'm grateful to have the opportunity to use my skills and talents to guide the future teachers of the Emporia area.

Day 236 - 8/24/14 - black

I'm grateful Willie, the silly black lab and I got to enjoy a long walk in the woods today on the trail. He loves it, especially going into the creek.  He needed a bath afterward because he insists on laying in the creek, not just walking through it.  This is his sad, after bath face.

Day 233 - 8/21/14 - in my neighborhood

Our house is officially on the market. We are moving so our home will be located in between my new job and Scott's current job. We have worked hard to get the house ready and clean and clutter free.
It is one of a few houses in my neighborhood that are for sale. I hope it sells quickly.

I'm grateful for the extra hard work Scott has put into the house getting it ready, and he was sick while doing so.  I'm a lucky lady.

Day 216 - 8/5/14 - new

Tonight I needed a distraction from waiting to hear from Longwood, so I made a new  batch of chocolate chip cookies.  I'm grateful for the memorized recipe and the smell of freshly baked cookies.

Day 216 - 8/4/14 - ordinary

Today I am grateful for my neighbor Wayne that has put faith back in me by giving me a chance to grow something. I grew a not so
ordinary tomato plant from the small plant that he gave to me. Only 5 cherry tomatoes so far, but that's better than I have ever done before.

Day 213 - 8/1/14 - fun

Today is our 27th anniversary. It sure has been a fun 27 years. I am grateful to have found love and a best friend all rolled into one.
